Description
The October speaker for the Academy for Lifelong Learning at St. Mary’s Sewanee will be Robert Keele, University Alfred Walter Negley Professor of Political Science Emeritus. With midterm elections just around the corner, his topic, “An Historical Perspective on Midterm Elections,” is especially pertinent. His lecture will be held Thursday, Oct. 14, at noon. Keele was on the faculty of the University for 42 years, and he specialized in American politics and constitutional law. He received his B.A. degree from Sewanee, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Emory University. He was chair of the political science department and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. In 2005, he was the recipient of the distinguished faculty award from the Associated Alumni of the University. The “Lunch and Learn” monthly series provides opportunities for lifelong learning for local residents and visitors in a beautiful bluff setting at St. Mary’s Sewanee. Lectures are held on the second Thursday of each month. Annual dues for the academy are $10. New members are welcome at any time. A boxed lunch may be purchased for $10. Lunch reservations for the October program are due by Friday, October 8. E-mail <stmarys This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
